Business Air Conditioning Installation

DW Support Services are a property maintenance company for both public and private sectors based in Oxford with additional offices in London and Reading. They have been established for over 30 years, maintaining and supporting over 29,000 homes. They recently commissioned a new purpose built 2 storey building and Meridian Cooling were tasked with designing and installing commercial air conditioning units and a heat recovery ventilation system.

The remit was to be as energy efficient as possible whilst creating a comfortable and controlled environment. DW Support Services requested that the ground floor design be discrete with the commercial air conditioning units to be held within the ceiling, and the first floor to have an ultra-modern galvanised steel finish to the design.

 

On the ground floor of the building, Meridian Cooling installed 4 way blow cassettes which were mounted within suspended ceilings. The commercial air conditioning units on the first floor were ducted units where the ductwork has been left on show to give that ultra-modern finish the client had requested.

Fresh air and extraction to the building is provided by Losnay heat recovery ventilation units. These units require a good quantity of fresh air whilst extracting equal amounts of foul air, and offer efficient heat rejection with temperature exchange efficiency of up to 87% - meaning a comfortable environment could be achieved with little heating /cooling loss.

Individual offices within the existing building were installed with high wall units, and 2 separate split type air conditioning units were installed to provide cooling in the server room and these are controlled by the touch screen central controller.

Finally, connected to the VRF heat pump, there is a boiler providing all hot water requirements and feeding radiators in the lobby areas. This provides the option for very low cost hot water in the summer as the system can also recover heat from the office hot water.
