Energy Efficiency :

After March 2005, the law requires all air conditioners for sale within the EC to carry an Energy Rating Label at both the point of sale and upon the packaging.  This allows a units efficiency to be measured against a single international standard known as the EN14511. Air conditioners must be rated between A to G.  A being the most efficient and G the least efficient.

Because energy efficient air conditioners use less energy than the older inefficient ones, they cost less to run, so they save you money every time you use them. Energy efficient appliances help save energy, money and the environment. They use less electricity, so they're responsible for fewer greenhouse gas emissions back at the power station.  Greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide (CO2) are changing the earth's climate, causing temperatures to increase and sea levels to rise.  If everyone in the UK who owns an air conditioner switched to an A-rated air conditioner, the energy saved would save over 35 million double decker buses of CO2.

Look out for the Energy Efficiency label; if it's A-rated then it's energy efficient.
